Yvonne Miller says:

GREAT comparison review!  I own the Ninja Ultima Kitchen System (BL820), available (per the Ninja site) at Bed Bath & Beyond.  Both the regular Ninja Ultima blender & the Ultima Kitchen System are currently 25% off at BBB (through 5/27/14 from what I was told).  You’re able to use the 20% off coupon available with new email sign-up in conjunction with the 25% off!

That brought the cost of my Ninja Ultima System down to $209.99, from an original price of $349.  This is an INCREDIBLE value considering the Ultima System includes a food processor bowl & blade, a dough blade, discs for slicing, shredding and grating, and 2 single serve containers.

Using this combination of savings, the Ninja Ultima Blender (with 3 single serve containers) is available for only $155.99!

The BL820 is the TOP OF THE LINE Ninja blender, with 1500 watts & a 3 peak horsepower motor (as compared to 2.5 horsepower on the straight Ninja Ultima blender, BL830).  My understanding is that this additional horsepower mainly gives the motor a longer life, perhaps giving it a shot at Vitamix’s longevity?

As for difficulty getting the lid off, I had the same problem.  My work-around is to NOT snap the pour spout cover into place.  Leave it able to open and the lid will be MUCH easier to remove.  You may want to hold this cover down loosely with your hand if the blender is full though!

Ok thanks

Cheeky Saver says:

It was nice to see a comparison from somebody not trying to sell the blenders. My parents have both a vitamix and a ninja and we found the same thing… the ninja is almost at par with the vitamix. They purchased the cheaper model of the ninja for under 100 and it works great. I totally agree with your assessment. If you’re looking for a blender you will never have to replace the vitamix is a good way to go…. if you are on a budget or don’t use a blender more than a couple times a month for things like ice caps and mashing fruits for jams then a ninja is the better option.

mdocod says:

The ninjas begin to show substantial wear after about a year of daily morning smoothies. 500-1000 smoothies (sometimes less) is about the limit of a ninja before it is falling apart. Not bad, but also not great considering its not uncommon for people to put 10-20 years of daily smoothie making on a vitamix. The Vitamix not only produces better results, it will continue to provide those results for years. The actual cost of ownership for daily smoothie drinkers is lower with a vitamix than with a ninja.

Welder Nate says:

Dang I was looking for one around $100.

5280 Street Dogs says:

Only thing I differ with you on is GET a reconditioned Vitamix if on a budget they are 250 for the basic and 299 for the 5200 which I own, its a no brainer!

Robert Morin says:

Happen to live just 15 miles from the main HQ here in the Cleveland area, and have visited the Vita-Mix factory on their open house holiday events, and love how they work, but couldn’t justify spending $400 – $600 on one. Happen to own a Ninja BL660 from Newegg, but at the same time, I do hold the Vita-Mix 5200 close to my heart in terms of what I aspire to have one day.

Ebony Waters says:

Hi! Which version of the vitamix do you have???

Hippie Chick says:

Hi I wanted to know if both blenders puree carrots or can they make silky smooth carrot juice ?

Richie Rich says:

I just got the Ninja Ultima from Amazon, and it came with 3 small cups that can be blended by themselves without needing the large cup. It was on sale for $199. Using just the single blending cup is really convenient,

severnasvetla says:

Ninja contains harmfull chemicals.
Why da hack would buy it?

Ariel Denio says:

Thank you for saying something about the longevity of the ninja, my boyfriends mom used the ninja brand  for a good two months and it broke down. Same with other products by the same company. I want a blender that i can use for at least longer than 2 years. Vitamix seems like the way to go. Thank you so much!

Dee1251 says:

Whats up with the warning sign on the ninja: contains lead?!

Jay Taylor says:

Nice video…besides all the ridiculous comments below from the two idiots going back and forth! – Thanks.

ReachBlows Dick says:

The Ninja Ultima has cancerous chemicals and lead, it says so on the box. They recommend people gloves when handling the Ulitima since its so toxic. Ultima is a terrible and dangerous choice even if it was free.

Better to go with any Vitamix. Even at $260 the Ultima will make you spend more on cancer therapy, doctor visits, pills etc which will add up to thousands of dollars yearly……a $500 cancer free Vitamix now seems a hell of a lot cheaper.

jtwidmer says:

Also regarding the cancerous substance, that bugged me so I called Europro. The lead that is being referenced to is only located on the inside of the power cord as an insulator. That’s it. Nowhere will it touch what you put into the blender.

jtwidmer says:

Thanks for this review. I was saving for a vitamix but, an emergency resulted in my savings being depleted. The Ultima is 139 here in Ohio (the 3 speed variation) and now I Won’t feel like I’ve wasted money for getting it when the Vitamix is (unfortunately) out of my price range right now. It may not be quite as good but it’s certainly a very good blender. :)

Conner Madison says:

YOU TOOK THE BIG BLAD OUT OF THE NINJA??????!!!!!

armando hernandez says:

Did you know that is what the plunger is for if it comes with it youhave to use is as for the ninja’s extra blade is as you have taken them off to make the peanut butter.

Shawn Anderson says:

which one would better destroy an IRS hard disk?

Aj G says:

can you do carrots?? id like to see how well it blends into a liquid

Sean Young says:

was she paid

KeepItSimpleWith Steph says:

Hi Jaden! I swear the lid on the Ninja is made for 6’5″ people! I have to use all my strength to rip it off. Great review and side by side!

Donna Powlison says:

Thank you so much for your review and for others comments.  This will be my first go around with a blender (not a kitchen girl) and I think the Ninja will be fine for a good start.

Mr.StarofTruth says:

yes thanks

Bea Miller says:

Love the filming and the humor you had, now subscribed. :)

Pablo Driaza says:

You were having a hard time opening it, cause you forgot to push the release button on top… So I think that review on opening it is irrelevant… but I liked your review!

jtwidmer says:

So on groupon I just got the Ultima for $85.55 total :). Thanks for the video!!

Dee1251 says:

Hi how is the Ninja® Professional Blender compare to the ultima?

Marble Grimes says:

My wife is Filipino and she wants to go back and open a small eatery come sara sara store (general store)so making things to sell and eat would you recommend the Vitamix pro for such a thing

kyyah2 says:

vitamix in Australia are around $900+ -we get ripped off all the time

GoRaw GoVegan says:

ninja is made in china

xzibit8614 says:

Costco currently has the BlendTec for for $249.

Blender Babes says:

Great video Jaden! Very helpful! We just got the Ninja Ultima and I’m looking forward to testing out :) Also, I’m glad I’m to the only one who had trouble with the lid!!

anofi berry says:

The NINJA ULTIMA is AWESOME. I kept getting the Montel Williams blender, they had to replace it at least once a year, I used it for over 3 years. When they stopped production I got the Ninja Ultima. I got it at Wal Mart for around $125 dollars. So far it has outlasted my Montel Blender which isn’t saying much, but I have had it for over two years, I use it daily and have had no problems. i eat almost all my food prep’d in this blender and it works like a champion.

Gioxtream says:

bledmore brand is the new vitamix killer and cheaper.

Is the new standard. Period .

Jason Johnson says:

I have both blenders. My Ninja has a crack in the pitcher it in less than a year and has cut myself on a few occasions.
