Review of my Truckfridge TF 51, 2 cu, ft. 12-Volt Compressor Fridge/Freezer

Today’s video of an introduction and review of my Truckfridge TF 51, 2 cu, ft. fridge. It is a true 12-Volt compressor driven fridge with the compressor made by Danfoss, one of the best known of all the compressors. It can operate at anywhere from 50 degree, to freezing, and all the way down to Zero degrees! However, it can ONLY be either a fridge, or a freezer, it can’t be both.

I’ve owned the Truckfridge now for the last 18 months and it has worked flawlessly for me! It draws about 5 amps when it is running, but it is so well insulated (and I added more) that on average it runs for less than 5 hours a day and usually only draws 20-25 ah off the battery bank every day. Most people with average use find that a 200 watt solar power system can easily power their fridge and keep their batteries healthy. The TruckFridge cost me $500 and I’m sure it paid for itself in savings over buying ice in the first year or two. I’m very happy with it and highly recommend it to you.

H M says:

All these little armchair critics on your channel Bob. I’d love to see them in the wild lol.

Shirley Hatton says:

Do you have to worry as much about the fridge being level? I had a norcold740bb 1 cu ft. in my teardrop. It lasted about one year. Truthfully I didn’t alway level side to side which may have caused the problem.

Diy Jeep Guy Thompson says:

can you use these off and on? like for week long trips here and there? or do you need to keep it running all the time? keeping food fresh without a lot of ice and keeping some of the foods from getting soaked in the melted ice is one of my dilemmas when I go camping.

Jeff's Homestead says:

Why do you have your fridge sitting upside down in the Box on the video?

Screww Googlle says:

I bought a Whynter FM62DZ Dual Zone Fridge/Freezer 3 years ago for $686.00. I always had it hooked up directly to a AC outlet in my shop and never used the 12volt option ! After 2 years it stopped Cooling Completely… I contacted Whynter and they said I would have to send it back to them for $60.00 and $95.00 to repair if they could. I told them to Shove it and that I would let as many people as I could that they sell Garbage !

nathanlief says:

This is actually the TB51A as it says on the box. The TF line need to be installed and are not portable.

Total Public Exposure T.V. Channel says:

I can go Google that item faster than you can explain it in your video I got tired of waiting so I went and Google it to find out what a truck fridge is by the way anybody ever tell you you talk too much just show the damn item

Linda Me says:

Barb Hayes says:

Great information. I just never thought about adding insulation to the fridge surround — makes perfect sense.

Rollin Nerdy says:

you convinced me bob, I bought the truck fridge 92 quart dual zone stainless steel.  It will be arriving soon, and I will be thoroughly reviewing it.  thank you for all the inspiration, you actually inspired my channel AND in the first place, to become a nomad and live on the road.  3 weeks in I’m happier than I’ve been in years.

sconce3 says:

The fridge is actually an Indel B imported from Italy. Great company. (read the upside down box in the video). I have had the mid-size unit for several yrs. and it works well. Truck Fridge is one of two U.S. importers. The other is Equipt, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It’s an off-road company that only carries hi-end equipment. Owned and run by Paul May. Great service. http://www.equipt1.com

Brad Strong says:

Thanks for that great video and review. Going to make the transition from Frieghtliner to sprinter van and that looks perfect. Thanks again.

mtn ride says:

I have the T-49 truck fridge in my van and I love it, it’s nice to have an ice cream while I am camping. I have 215ah of battery power and a 120 watt portable zamp solar set up and I never have had an issue. Love your videos.

lue lunsford says:

I hate to tell you this but you’re not supposed to turn the compressor upside down.

Robert Malone says:

By the time you get done talking you warranties gonna be off that refrigerator

Tracy Mcdonald says:

Thank you for your helpful, imformative video’s.

La Tortuga Abides says:

Just ordered a TF 51 today, 09/28/17. The salesman told me they closed the Phoenix office a year ago. They only have a Kentucky office now. Still a good produce w support in America.

Mario Mejia says:

Helpful video Mr.Bob, thanks you sir.

Sky_Mount says:

Hey Bob, just wondering if you’ve seen anyone use a household mini fridge paired with a pure sinewave inverter. I was thinking of doing that, but have concerns about the compressor turning on while the vehicle is in motion. What are your thoughts?

Dwarf Zerker says:

My question why is box upside down lol

Clint Johnson says:

Listening and learning but noticed the fridge is upside down. I wonder if you should wait before plugging it in? After seeing you unpack, it was upright… I guess you boxed up for the evaluation.

ranTrek says:

They aren’t in Arizona anymore…

Backroads Vegan says:

Just called company, and they closed down the Tucson office about a year and a half ago.
