The recipe I was telling you about is called Japanese Mum’s Chicken. Here is the recipe. It is delicious. I’ve never done it as  a freezer meal..but I am sure it can be adapted. 

8 chicken drumsticks, skin on
1 cup water
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup soy sauce
2-1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1 garlic clove, peeled and bruised
1 small hot chili pepper, slit open, seeds removed
Place all the ingredients in a saucepan over a high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove any scum that rises to the surface. Increase the heat, turning the drumsticks frequently in the liquid, and cook until the liquid has reduced to a sticky glaze. Arrange the chicken on a serving platter, remove the garlic clove and chili from the liquid, and spoon the glaze over. It’s a glaze rather than a sauce, so there’s not a whole lot of it. We also sprinkled them with some sliced green onions.

I LOVED the Cilantro Lime chicken (except the name, TOO long!) Be sure to salt it. If you are a person who has to have hot stuff to enjoy things that have flavors from one of the Hispanic cultures, just add cayenne, red pepper flakes or and or chop up green chilies. Some will prefer more cumin and oregano, but I love it as is. Cut cooking time for Boneless Skinless to about 4 hrs. Check chicken at that point.

I make the cilantro lime chicken all the time and love it! I make it like sixsistersstuff. I serve it sheedded on tacos or taco salad.

we loved the cafe rio chicken also and didn’t like the cilantro lime chicken because it was a lack of flavor. We tried adding taco seasoning or faijita seasoning to it and making it into faijitas but still didn’t like it.

I made the honey sesame chicken one last night and my chicken is frozen but the sauce is not frozen. it’s very liquidy. it’s just a regular freezer above the refrigerator. I will make that one soon so it doesn’t go bad. it’s very cold so I know it’s not bad it’s like marinating over night. so, todays will be that. also you didn’t mention if your family liked that one. if so let me know and if there is something you’d do differently let me know! thanks sweets!

Thank you so much for your original post. It was a huge help to me, along with your/Paula Deen’s meatloaf. My fiancee liked the meatloaf a lot so I’m glad I made a double batch to freeze! We also LOVED the Chicken Rio, but we were not too keen on the mustardy chicken.

Kimmy! You are right! The Cafe Rio Chicken was delish! Hubby even suggested it be put in the rotation. And I agree, the cilantro lime chicken was not good. At all. We had high hopes for it since we love Mexican & all the ingredients that were in it but for some reason it was pretty much not editable :(
I’ll have to try the BBQ chicken.

Thank you for your review .. Absolutely NOBODY tells which ones are better than others except you!!! I love that… I do have a question .. when you put these in the Crock pot do you thaw it first or just throw it in .. and BOOM .. Just wondering b/c I have every size crock pot there is most on the small to med sized that I use the most .. Making sure it’s going to fit SHOULD be the most effort I have to put into any of these for that day with these winners!!
