Oster My Blend Review

Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Oster BLSTPB-WBL My Blend 250-Watt Blender with Travel Sport Bottle. It’s 250 watts.

The unit comes with the base, travel sport bottle with lid, stainless steel blade assembly and an instruction manual with a few recipes. The bottle is bpa free, holds 20 ounces and has a lid with a carry hook. The bottle is dishwasher safe and should fit in your car’s cup holder.

It’s 14.5 inches tall with the bottle in the base and 5 inches wide so it’s very small and takes up little space on your counter. It comes in this blue, pink and orange. I’ll make a fruit smoothie and blended iced coffee to test the Oster.

The lid should be spill-proof. I’ve filled the bottle with water and there’s no spilling. Let’s make a fruit smoothie. In the bottle, I’m pouring milk, frozen blueberries and a bit of sugar. Don’t fill past the 20 ounce marking. I’ve always found it’s best to fill a little below the max. Put the blade on and match up the arrow on the blade to the arrow on the base. Press the bottle down to blend. You can also lock the bottle by turning it clockwise in the base and it will blend automatically without you holding it down. I’ll let this blend automatically for 30 seconds. Most drinks should be done in 30 to 45 seconds. To stop, unlock the bottle from the base. Turn the bottle over and replace the blade with the lid. When you’re finished with your smoothie, you can rinse it out and use it as a water bottle.

Next I’ll make my blended iced coffee. Pour in cooled coffee. I had already mixed in sugar while the coffee was hot. Do not put any hot liquids in the blender. Add some half and half and ice cubes. Put the blade on. I’m going to press down a few times because that generally works better than letting it run automatically when you’re using ice cubes.

When blending always put liquids in first. Don’t put large chunks of fruit and vegetables in the blender, they should be 1 inch or less in size.

Although the parts are dishwasher safe, I always recommend using warm soapy water as the heat of the dishwasher can reduce the life of plastic parts.

When I used this blender today.. The milk curdled .. I retried it with another pack of milk.. The same thing happened.. Any clue what might be going wrong?

I read that you aren’t supposed to put frozen fruit (just soft ones) or ice cubes in this blender. It wears the blade down faster and causes over heating. I still purchased one (another brand) but I have to adjust my receipts because of this 🙁

dusty rhodes says:

The problem is due to the blade not sitting low enough, so pieces can fall below the blade and not getting chopped. It’s a design defect.

I don’t recommend adding sugar to any smoothie, fruits have naturally occurring sugar, which is good for you.
