Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the KitchenAid 5-speed Diamond Blender. LINK to KitchenAid 5-Speed Diamond Blender: http://amzn.to/1V6w7sI It comes in this red and lots of colors to match other KitchenAid appliances.The blender comes with the die cast metal base, 60 ounce bpa free plastic pitcher, lid with ingredient cup, stainless steel blade and instruction manual with some tips and a speed guide.
The touchpad is neatly laid out. This is the power button which you press first, the light will flash. Then you can choose a speed – stir, chop, mix, pulse or liquefy. There’s also a crush ice and pulse mode. When you’re using stir, chop or mix speeds, you can remove the ingredient cup and add other ingredients.
Let’s test out the blender. Plug it in. Put the pitcher on the base and turn clockwise until it locks into place. First I’ll make a fruit smoothie. I’m using frozen peaches and milk. When you press any of the five speeds, the blender is supposed to start slow to pull in all the ingredients and then increases speed.
Next, I’ll blend some vegetables to see how the blender handles harder produce like carrots. I’m using 2 carrots cut up, handful of baby spinach leaves and some water.
Press the power button and pulse button. All five speeds will blink, choose the speed you want, press and let go. Turn if off when you’re done and unplug.
Let’s test the crush ice mode. 6 ice cubes is the recommended maximum you can process at one time in this blender. When you press the crush ice button, the blender will automatically process for 30 seconds at staggered intervals. Unplug the unit before removing the pitcher.
It’s best to handwash the parts in warm soapy water. Wipe the base with a damp cloth and dry.
